Driving Donor Engagement with a Strategic Annual Report

With EarthEcho, a global youth movement to restore our ocean planet.

Overview

EarthEcho International works to build a global youth movement to protect and restore our ocean planet. Co-founded by Philippe Cousteau, EarthEcho offers free educational content, leadership training, and collaboration networks to youth, teachers, and community leaders. Its reach extends to more than 2 million people in 157 countries.

In 2025, Veerless partnered with EarthEcho on a pro bono engagement as part of our commitment to 1% for the Planet. Together, we produced the EarthEcho 2024 Year in Review, a report that captures a year of youth-led impact across literacy, advocacy, and action.

The Situation

EarthEcho does a lot with a lean team. In 2024 alone, its programs spanned five youth Ambassador cohorts, a 21-member Youth Leadership Council, the global EarthEcho Water Challenge, the OurEcho Challenge in the U.S. and U.K., the GenSea digital community, and new online courses for educators.

That breadth is a strength, and a communications challenge. Donors, corporate partners, educators, and policymakers each care about different parts of the story. EarthEcho needed a single report that could connect dozens of programs, partners, and data points into one clear narrative, without losing the voices of the young people at its center.

The Solution

Veerless worked with the EarthEcho team to shape the report around its three core program pillars: developing environmental literacy, amplifying youth voices, and advancing youth action. That structure gave every program a home and gave readers a clear path through the year.

We built an “Impact by the Numbers” section to anchor the report in measurable results, from 103,000 youth reached through literacy programs to more than 24,000 square meters of habitat restored. We paired that data with youth spotlights and first-person quotes, so each stakeholder group could see both the scale of the work and the people behind it. The report closes with transparent financial results, including the 84% of expenses directed to program services.

Ongoing Impact

The 2024 Year in Review gives EarthEcho a credible, stakeholder-ready tool for donor stewardship, partner engagement, and fundraising. It shows a nonprofit that measures what matters and reports it with clarity, from 16,468 community scientists in the Water Challenge to 56% growth in the GenSea community.

For Veerless, this partnership reflects why we give through 1% for the Planet. The same reporting and communications expertise we bring to corporate clients can help mission-driven organizations show the world what their work makes possible.
