At Veerless, we believe pets are more than companions—they’re family. From the treats they devour to the toys they destroy (and we happily replace), we want everything they touch to be safe, high-quality, and just as good for the planet as it is for them. By choosing sustainable pet products, we can support brands that prioritize animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility—because caring for our pets should go paw-in-paw with caring for the world they live in. These eco-friendly, socially responsible goodies let us pamper our furry friends while helping protect the planet we all call home. Because being a great pet parent can also mean being a planet hero!

1. Beco

Beco makes dog food, toys, and clean-up products with sustainability built into every step. They’re Climate Label Certified, a Certified B Corp since 2022, and a proud member of 1% for the Planet. Beco measures their full carbon footprint—Scopes 1, 2, and 3—right up to customer delivery, and sets fresh, science-based reduction targets each year to keep pushing forward. Their sustainability work is hands-on and far-reaching: they’ve boosted recycled content in products (from cotton to plastics), transitioned their HQ to renewable energy, and tackled supply chain risks like deforestation. They go beyond their own operations, investing in the restoration and protection of green spaces, making trails cleaner and more accessible, and supporting dogs in the homeless community with food, treats, toys, and essentials. Beco also champions systemic change, joining The Better Business Act Coalition to push for business practices that value people, pets, and the planet equally.

2. Ruffwear

Ruffwear designs high-quality dog gear with a mission to help people and their dogs explore the outdoors, while protecting those wild places for the future. Their sustainability approach is rooted in responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and conscious design, all backed by bold climate commitments: Climate Neutral by 2027, more than a 50% cut in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2029, and Climate Positive by 2030. They’re already making significant strides toward those goals, including powering their HQ with 100% renewable electricity, eliminating intentionally added PFAS from every product, and holding suppliers and partners to rigorous sustainability standards. Through their Paw It Forward program, Ruffwear gives back to causes ranging from land conservation to diversity, equity, and inclusion, dog adoptions, and supporting working dogs.

3. West Paw

Montana-based West Paw has been making dog toys and treats for nearly 30 years and evolving every step of the way to meet the needs of pets, people, and the planet. They work exclusively with regenerative ranches that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and resilience, and help reduce waste while transforming typically discarded organ meats into safe, nutritious treats for dogs. A Certified B Corp, through their Join the Loop recycling program, West Paw turns returned products into brand-new ones and keeps plastics out of landfills. Their leadership in sustainability hasn’t gone unnoticed by the industry, and they’ve been named a Top Performer by the Pet Sustainability Coalition for going above and beyond in environmental responsibility.

4. Petaluma

Petaluma puts sustainability at the heart of everything they do. Their plant-based pet food is designed to cut reliance on natural resources and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They source preferentially from organic, biodiverse farms, and bake their recipes in a solar-powered facility. Waste and plastic use are kept to a minimum, with innovations like fully home-compostable treat bags. As a Top 5% Certified B Corp, Petluma weaves environmental and social responsibility into every part of the business, from carbon offsetting to donating 1% of revenue (through 1% for the Planet) to nonprofits tackling climate change and food insecurity. Their commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed: sustainability and nutrition experts have recognized their efforts, including their baked food being named the Best Eco-Friendly Dog Food by LeafScore.

5. Wild One

Wild One creates innovative and design-forward dog products, such as harnesses, carriers, feeding essentials and toys, and makes all decisions with the planet in mind. They’ve integrated recycled woven fabrics made from upcycled plastic water bottles, recycled paper for packaging, and plant-based materials (instead of fossil-fuel-derived plastics). Their baked treats are made with certified organic ingredients and grooming products are fragrance-, paraben- and sulfate-free. Wild One partners with animal rescue organizations across the United States to provide support, gear and care that foster and rescue dogs need to thrive.

Choosing sustainable pet products isn’t just good for our furry friends—it’s a simple, everyday way to protect the planet they’ll grow old on.
